Paddlesport Demo Day - 8th July

Paddlesport and Brookbank together with many of the leading canoe and kayak manufactures will be hosting a free demo day to come and try canoeing and kayaking.
If you are considering purchasing a boat this is the ideal chance to try several out before you buy and talk to one of our helpful staff or the manufacturers themselves.
We will also br running a selection of courses and workships during the day. Details further down the page.

COURSES AND WORKSHOPS RUNNING ON THE DAY
Beginners Kayaking
If you are a newcomer to kayaking or just need a refresher then our 1 hour session will give you the knowledge of the basics on how to handle your kayak and some of the safety aspects too. Any type of kayak can be used on this session. Please book on line here
Beginners Open Canoe Session
If you are thinking of taking up canoeing and purchasing your own open canoe then this session will give you an invaluable head start on areas including launching, paddling, turning and safety on the water. Please book on line here
Introduction to sea kayaks
Fancy trying a sea or touring kayak. This intro session run by an experienced sea kayak coach will let you get to grips with handling a sea kayak confidently.
Sea Kayak safety and Rescue
An introductory session on safety and rescue on the sea. This will be a great chance to practice rescue techniques in a sheltered location including swimmer rescues, towing and more. Session provided by Olly Sanders level 5 sea kayak coach. Please book on line here
THE VENUE
Our Paddlesport outlet is lucky enough to have it's own on site demo lake where the event will take place just a short walk across from our shop. For directions Click Here
FOOD AND DRINK
A refreshment tent will be on site for the day offering hot and cold drinks as well as hot snack food. Feel free to bring your own packed lunch or Picnic.
COST
The Paddlesport demo event is FREE The only charge will be for those people booked onto a specific course or workshop
TIMES
On the water demo times 10am to 4pm
Paddlesport shop open from 9.30am to 5.30pm
AVAIABILITY
Please note we are not able to guarantee the availability of any particular boat or brand and in many cases will not know what models may be available until the day itself
You can be assured that we will have the largest possible array of boats available for you to try.
WHAT TO BRING
As well as the canoes and kayaks available to try we will be providing the kit including paddles, buoyancy jackets, spray decks, and spray tops on free loan.
Please bring something to wear on the water such as shorts or tracksuit bottoms, lightweight shoes or trainers, T shirt, fleece or other top to wear under a spray top and a change of cloths and towel.
HOW TO BOOK
You can book now to reserve a place with our on line booking form. For the demo event you then just turn up on the day, give your name and sign the waiver form.
For courses and workshops booked you will be contacted by one of our staff to obtain payment. Your place on the course or workshop is not reserved until payment is made and all courses and workshops must be paid for in advance in full.
