Wednesday evening paddle trips

Every Wednesday why not join us for a leisurely paddle along some of the regions waterways.

All experience levels and abilities are welcome on most trips except some of the moving water trips. This is a great chance to get out and explore local waterways with experienced paddlers.

We will happily help show you where to go and give you advice and coaching along the way if you want it or if you just want the chance to paddle with other like minded people and join us in the pub after for a drink that's fine.

There is no charge for these trips. Equipment hire is available by prior booking at £10 per trip.

General purpose kayaks, touring kayaks, inflatables, white water boats, open Canoes.- ALL ARE WELCOME

CANAL TRIP – Wednesday 16th July
A gentle cruise along the picturesque Macclesfield Canal near Poynton in Cheshire. Suitable for all types of canoe and kayak and all experience levels.

Where & When – Poynton 6.45pm

RIVER TRIP FLAT TO GRADE 2 WATER - Wednesday 23rd July
Mersey Canoe Trail - Part 1
This river trip is fine for beginners with supervision, with gentle rapids and a couple of weirs it is suitable for beginners in kayaks, inflatables, touring kayaks or open canoes. Trip is dependent on water levels. Approx distance 8km.

Where & When
Meet at end of Yew street, Stcokport just off j1 M60 near Pyramid at 6.45pm


RIVER TRIP - MOVING WATER - Wednesday 30th July
River Goyt - Marple
Roman lakes to Manchester Canoe Club, Dale Road
A grade 2 river suitable for competent beginners on moving water to intermediate kayakers in general purpose or white water kayaks or beginners in open canoe and inflatables under supervision.

Where & When – Meet at Manchester Canoe club Site, Dale Road, Marple at 6.45pm


SAFETY AND RESCUE PRACTICE - Wednesday 13th August
Roman lakes, Marple Bridge
This is an informal flat water session on best practice and techniques for keeping yourself and other safe while on the water. We will include capsize procedures, effective throw line and towline usage amongst other rescue techniques. Be prepared to get wet!

Where - North lake at Roman lakes, Marple Bridge
When - Meet at either Brookbank, Yew Street 6.15pm or Roman lakes for 6.45pm ( North lake)

By attending our trips and sessions the participants agree to the following conditions:

All participants agree to follow the instruction of the group leader if requested to do so.
All participants are responsible for their own equipment or for equipment hired from Brookbank
All participants are responsible for their own safety.
These sessions are not commercial courses or trips but are organised through Brookbank as an effective way for paddlers to be able to meet and enjoy local paddling trips as they would in a club environment.
